Materials
Concrete:
Concrete is used more than any other man made material on the planet. It is a construction material that consists, in its most common form - Portland cement, construction aggregates (generally gravel & sand) and water. In QMIX the mixing unit will have the cement, water, ice and additives/admixtures added to the aggregates and sand in sequence set by the manufacturing process.
Water:
Water is available from ADDC at the plant with storage facility up to 430 m3 and chilled water storage tank of 70 m3. All pipes and connection are properly insulated to keep the temperature of water at required levels. In addition to this high technology Ice plant with capacity of 50/75 tons per day and 80 tons storage capacity is also in use.
Aggregates:
Aggregates and sand are stored in shaded area with adequate walls dividing the different types of materials to avoid contamination by mixing together. Shading is necessary to keep the heat away from materials. Materials are checked periodically as per our Quality Control Plan / Inspection and Testing Plan. All materials are subject for inspection before offloading to its designated storage bin.
Cement/Cementitious Material:
Cement is stored in silos according to the type. Total storage capacity of the plant is 950 Tons for cement, GGBS and micro silica. The silos are equipped with air filters to keep moisture content in control and they are kept tight in order to avoid any contamination.
Admixtures:
Admixtures are materials in the form of powder or fluids that are added to the concrete to give it certain characteristics not obtainable with plain concrete mixes. Admixture will be stored at the plant in storage tanks provided by the approved Admixture Suppliers. Tanks are set up near the plant operator's room with a built-in shed for avoiding direct sunlight and heat to the tanks. Admixtures will keep all its chemical properties up to 50° C according to specifications set by the manufactures of Admixtures.
